This review has been really difficult to write, because I loved this book so much and it's hard to remember everything I want to say about it. I read The Longest Autumn by Amy Avery the second my pre-ordered copy arrived, and immediately started recommending it to everyone I know.
It's a pandemic book that touches on the way communities fail each other when supply chain issues emerge. There's a protagonist who lives with chronic pain, and thrives. There are broken hearts, but also healthy relationships, mutual respect, and care. There's sexy times and complicated friendship!
I loved this book for what it said about belonging and community, and for how it said it. This will be a book to return to and to treasure.
