This is my public declaration that I am officially throwing myself (bodily) in to the ring/goblet/hat as an Author Mentor Match round 7 hopeful!
As someone who recently organized my google drive, I have to admit that while I've only considered myself to be writing "seriously" for about two years, I've been doing this for ... a while. I've participated in at least one Nano Camp every year since 2012. Of those, I've written "the end" on five full novels and one novella. I've queried two of those novels and the novella, and while the rejections have been very encouraging, they've all still been rejections. After spending about a year and a half working on the same WIP over and over and over, I decided it was time for something new.
Currently, I'm working on a lower-YA fantasy in which a pair of 14-year olds with strange powers fight to save their town, while trying to find their places in it. Featuring giant centipedes, asthma, and unlikely friends, the first draft of this came to being after reading that terrible take on inhalers causing global warming, and the four-inch bug that disappeared under my chair where I sat reading it.
By submitting to AMM, I'm hoping to make some new writing friends, gain new insights in to the never-ending editing and querying processes, and learn how to make those awesome collages that everyone's been posting during the #AMMParty. (Seriously. I could barely remember how to GIF for this post!)

Cool. Nice to meet you. And I hear that on the rejections. I have a whole spreadsheet full! But I keep on chugging. Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, centipedes are my biggest fear, so...gross! I have one in my book, too. I guess I write about the things I fear.
