In January I posted my new-year's goals to this blog. Here's a surprise: I didn't finish anything that I planned to. Wait, that's not a surprise. I could allow myself to slip in to shame and disappointment. I could let the pressure I put on myself force me completely off the path I chose. I didn't do anything I set my mind to doing. I haven't made any progress towards my goals. But you know what? While I may not have hit my goals, I did a lot of other things: Instead of accomplishing my goals, I finished the Ruby Slipper Sisterhood's Winter Writing Festival. I queried my romance novel. I finished a first draft of a 90,000 word mystery story. I received a rejection for my very first query. I wrote a short story, and did enough rounds of edits that I actually feel proud of what I created. I queried the short story. I got rejected again.
